Event date: 4th April 2024 Mode: Gform Participants: 10 entries IEEE WIE AG’s from CEP, SCT, and MCE in collaboration with IEEE WIE Kerala section conducted an online competition Mismatched. It was a crossword puzzle event conducted through online mode (google form) on 4th April at 7:00 pm and the duration of the competition was 10 minutes. The theme of the crossword puzzle was famous women in sports.

SheRise

Event date: 2nd April 2024 Mode: Online Participants: 20 IEEE WIE AG’s from CEP, SCT, and MCE in collaboration with IEEE WIE Kerala section organized a talk session featuring Jyothika Nithin, Malabar hub coordinator (2023-2024) and IEEE CS Kerala Chapter Community Growth Executive at Khyaal, about the Transition from Engineering background to Community head. She shared personal experiences, challenges faced, and strategies employed during their transition. The session provided invaluable insights and inspiration for engineers considering a transition to community leadership roles. Attendees left with a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with such transitions, equipped with practical strategies to navigate their journeys.

FIGMA Workshop

Event date: 1st April 2024 – 4th April 2024 Mode: Online Participants: 45 IEEE WIE AG GEC Barton Hill, IEEE WIE AG AEC, and IEEE WIE AG MBCET in collaboration with IEEE WIE Kerala Section conducted a Figma Workshop having two phases; a workshop on Figma and a poster designing competition. The event was mentored by Jayakrishnan P U. a design enthusiast. The session provided students with insights into Figma, instructing them on its utilization and the process of crafting designs with it. The second phase was a poster designing competition and the topics were shared via the WhatsApp group on April 2nd, and the deadline for submitting entries was April 4th through Google Forms. A total of 21 entries were received. This competition allowed participants to demonstrate their design skills learned from the Figma workshop.

Panel Discussion

Event Date: 4th April 2024 Mode: Online Participants Count: 14 Event Poster: Event Summary: IEEE WIE Kerala Section’s panel discussion, “The Power of Women’s Networks: Building Bridges and Breaking Glass Ceilings” held as part of the WiEmerge – WiE Week Celebration, was a dynamic exploration of how women’s networks empower, break barriers, and foster collaboration. The event featured diverse panelists, including industry leaders and experts like Dr. Bijuna Kunju, Ms. Anna Thomas, Dr. C. Shermi, and Ms. Sreedevi Ram Kamal. Moderated by Haritha Harilal, the LINK WiE Coordinator, the discussion highlighted the significance of building connections, sharing experiences, and supporting one another. Talk session: Women in Tech

Event date: 2nd April 2024 Mode: Online Participants: 36 IEEE WIE AG GEC Barton Hill, IEEE WIE AG AEC, and IEEE WIE AG MBCET in collaboration with IEEE WIE Kerala Section organized a virtual session on Women in Tech. The session featured Varsha Shaheen, a Women in Tech Fellow at TinkerHub, as the esteemed speaker. Attendees were engaged in dynamic discussions on gender equality, career advancement, and the role of women in technology. The Women in Tech session provided a platform for insightful discussions and reflections on the challenges and opportunities for women in the tech industry. As a token of appreciation, a virtual memento was presented to Varsha Shaheen for her invaluable contribution to the session.

SparkHer: Workshop

Event Date: 3rd April 2024 Mode: Online Participants Count: 166 Event Poster: Event Summary: “SparkHer: Empowering Women Leaders” was a dynamic and insightful event hosted by IEEE WiE Kerala Section as part of their WiEmerge: Wie Week Celebrations. The session, held on 3rd April via Google Meet, featured Gayathri Mohan S, Program Manager at UST, as the speaker. The attendees had the opportunity to discover effective strategies for developing confidence and assertiveness in leadership roles through Gayathri Mohan S’s expertise. Mandala Art Competition

Event Date: 29th March to 3rd April 2024 Mode: Online Participants Count: 17 Event Poster: Event Summary:  The WiE Kerala Section as part of the WiEmerge: WIE Week celebrations organized a Mandala Art Competition with the theme of Celebrating Diversity. The students were instructed to submit their entries through a Google form and all participants were provided with participation certificates. The first prize winner was awarded with ₹200 cash prize. A total of 17 entries were submitted.

Tink-Her-Hack 2.0 – HACKATHON

Tinker Hub Foundation in collaboration with IEEE SB TKMCE, IEEE WIE KERALA SECTION, and IEEE WIE AG TKMCE organized a women’s only hackathon named Tink-Her-Hack 2.0 on 9th March 2024 to 10th March 2024. This unique event offered a platform for both newcomers and seasoned tech enthusiasts to collaborate, learn, and showcase their skills in a supportive environment. Tinker Hub already provided certain sets of problem statements from which the participants can choose one to work. They can also work on a topic outside the given problem statements. The event began with an inaugural address by Dr. Bijuna Kunju, Vice Chair of IEEE Kerala Section. Three mentors were provided for guiding and mentoring the participants as well as to evaluate their work by Tinker Hub. Two-mile stone checks were present during the 20-hour hackathon and participants submitted their work by 11 am on 10/03/24 through the Tinker Hub website. Tink-Her-Hack concluded by showcasing the websites created by each team followed by a photo session. The hackathon not only showcased women’s talent and creativity in technology but also served as a catalyst for meaningful change and empowerment within the industry. As participants departed with new skills, connections, and memories, Tink-Her-Hack left a lasting impact on the participants and the broader tech community, reaffirming the importance of diversity, inclusion, and female representation in technology.
